What Steam promises for mods and tools

Valve’s Brushland store listing (app 5163450, checked 2026-10-18) includes feature categories beyond Single-player. Those tags tell you what Steam’s backend supports, not necessarily what will be fully documented on launch day. Until the Q1 2027 demo, treat each row below as tag confirmed / gameplay details pending.

For kingdom text sharing (separate from Workshop), see share codes and color looks . For release timing, see release date and demo .

Preview footage gap: The announcement trailer and indexed Steam screenshots show the paint-and-build toolbar (terrain, forest, house, tower, road tools) but do not show a separate “level editor mode,” Workshop browser, or achievement pop-up. Do not infer mod workflows from the main kingdom painter UI alone.

Level editor: what we can and cannot say

Confirmed: Steam categorizes Brushland as Includes level editor. That is a deliberate store flag, not player speculation.

Not shown publicly: Menu name, whether “levels” mean entire islands or interior scenes, upload permissions, or link to kingdom share codes . Not announced yet (as of 2026-10-18).

Steam Workshop and “mods” searches

Workshop support means players may publish user content through Valve’s system, but Transhuman Design has not published:

  • Modding guidelines or restricted assets
  • Whether Workshop items are cosmetic, full maps, or rules tweaks
  • Cross-play between Workshop maps and campaign saves

Until the demo, bookmark the Steam hub and FAQ rather than third-party mod lists.

  3. Wait for Q1 2027 demo before planning Workshop uploads or achievement hunting routes.
